Professional Basketball Player Brings Personal Insights and Wisdom To Helping Grow The World’s Only Vertical Network For Sports and Recreation Communities

Silicon Valley, CA.  PlayyOn announces that Richard “Scooter” Barry will join PlayyOn’s Growth team, advising product marketing.

Richard “Scooter” Barry is the oldest of the six children of basketball hall-of-famer, Rick Barry. Scooter earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Kansas, where he won the NCAA Basketball Championship in 1988 under hall-of-fame coach Larry Brown, and then played his senior year for hall-of-fame coach Roy Williams. After being released by the Boston Celtics he built a 17-year professional career in 6 different countries overseas. Returning home to California in 2008, he became known as the Corporate Point Guard in sports and technology.

Scooter understands the challenges elite athletes face in setting up programs, clinics, and camps. He’s excited to share how PlayyOn’s platform serves their needs, as well as the needs of recreational organizers.

Scooter is also a father and feels the pain of parents who are trying to follow the scattered communications from their children’s sports programs.

“I get it,” said Scooter, “Having been on both sides of the communication gap, I know how frustrating it is for parents and coaches. I am excited to be part of the PlayyOn team, making communication and payments so easy. PlayyOn enables organizers to focus on the athletes and the quality of their sports experience.”

“Scooter is a quality addition to our team,” says PlayyOn’s CEO, SallyAnn Reiss. “Scooter was an amazing point guard who knew how to get things done on the court.  He also knows how to get things done in business and we know he will help us continue to improve our platform and launch new products that help elite athletes further monetize their brand and their craft.”
