The paternal figure in a budding athlete’s life is a privileged position. Being able to see your child grow up playing sports is a badge of pride for many fathers. Who else remembers every detail of your first goal or home run then your old man?  Bonus if you were lucky enough to be coached by your father, there’s no doubt that these were some of your fondest childhood memories. In honor of all the amazing sports dads out there, here are five fantastic short videos that highlight just how awesome Fathers are!

The greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky, looks up to one man when it comes to his chosen sport – and that man is his father. Wayne says his dad was his first coach, his first teammate, and his first manager. Sportchek helped him create this tribute to his biggest fan, and encourages us to say thanks to our #greatones on Father’s Day.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2xUgc-G6Zg

We already know a picture is worth a thousands words. We already know the dedication of a sports parent is unmatched. What makes this short commercial so great is it encompasses a lifetime of that dedication in just one short minute without any words.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amRFUUisyrs

It’s not just the sons who owe their success to their dads. Plenty of female athletes credit their success to their fathers too. Two Canadian Olympic curlers discuss how their fathers influenced and encouraged their curling careers. It might be impossible to find two dads who are more proud of their little girls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoYsJWOe4f8

Steph Curry always wanted to emulate his dad, Dell Curry, and play in the NBA. Having just won his second NBA Championship, he has already surpassed his father as a player. However, this does not stop Steph from acknowledging that what he has achieved has a lot to do with one man…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEphPunTjRM

Now, to finish a little on the lighter side… The everyday father has plenty of their own highs and lows. Cheerios put a commercial together that show just how awesome the everyday routine can be with your children!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HoPdhTUFjc

We know behind every great athlete is an incredible and passionate dad. From PlayyOn to Fathers everywhere – Thank You
